MU Gift Announcement
Living in the same city as my alma mater has allowed me to stay very close to all things MIZZOU. With MU heading into the SEC, and a whole bunch of new upgrades to their athletic facilities, it is an exciting time to be in Tiger (columbia, MO) country. I was very pleased when the KC Star called me to photograph the gift donation announcement and unveiling of the the facilities. Here are a couple of my favorites.
Arena Motocross – More than Dirt and Loud Engines
Last December, I set out to photograph an indoor motocross event, it seemed interesting enough. During the competition, I discovered a man with a fantastic story. Six years ago, Jud Reams received life-altering news: his doctor found a benign tumor growing on the roof of his mouth. “It scared the shit out of me, walking into a cancer hospital – it made me wake up a little and pursue this love I had as a kid,” says Reams. He used to ride motocross around the neighborhood when he was 12-years-old. Now, it’s a weekly occurrence and a bonding activity with his family. He and his twelve-year-old stepson, Bailey, have grown much closer through the races. Last year, they competed in eight events of the State Motocross Series. “More Throttle!” Reams shouts over roaring engines as Bailey rounds a turn at Arena Cross. “I try to set a good example for Bailey, he’s a good kid.”
